A Love Story
"Sherrie" is a single mother fighting cancer for the fourth time. After her most recent diagnosis, she discovered that her middle-school age daughter was pregnant. Now Sherrie is raising her two daughters and her infant grandson.
Love INC was able to connect Sherrie with some local churches to meet an immediate financial need. In addition, several members of local churches gave Sherrie and her daughter an infant bouncer seat, boys clothes, baby toys and some children's videos, which a Love INC volunteer delivered to the family's home. Through the connecting ministry of Love INC, the Church was able to give Sherrie and her family hope!
On January 4, 2008, we received a referral from the Visiting Nurses Association to assist a 59 year-old woman to and from chemotherapy treatments.
Graciously, one of our partnering churches transported "Sally" five days a week to our nearby Health Campus. "Sally's" diagnosis was not good, and as the various volunteers became involved in her life, they began to take meals to her, as "Sally" lived alone and her daughter was serving in the Army.
As the friendships grew, "Sally" agreed to a visit from a pastor, and over many visits and prayers, rededicated her life to Christ. One of the volunteers developed a very close relationship with "Sally" and wrote her life story. "Sally" began to see where she had been and, now, where she would be in accepting Christ as her Lord and Savior.
A week before she passed away, "Sally" asked to be baptized. Six persons who had grown to love her surrounded her at Hospice and sang hymns and prayed as she was baptized and shared a wonderful testimony, expressing that she was not afraid to die. Six days later, she entered heaven unafraid and at total peace.
Yes, a church was mobilized and a life was transformed!
